In the deep roots of college football lies few moments that stand out as much as Vince Youngs electrifying run in the 2006 Rose Bowl on 4th and 5. The Longhorns were in a situation down 38 to 33 against USC with less than 30 seconds on the clock. The tension in the air was tight. As the outcome of the next few plays hung in the balance. For Vince Young it was make or break. With the crowd of the Rose Bowl watching in anticipation of what was to come. Young dropped back to pass, scanned the field for a open receiver but found none. He tucked the ball and ran for the endzone breaking the goaline and scoring for the Longhorns. The run was able to help the Longhorns secure a 41 to 38 win against USC in the Rose Bowl, securing another National Title.


Ricky Williams Breaks Records in Explosive Run Against the Aggies

In a big moment against the Texas A&M Aggies, running back Ricky Williams only needed 11 more yards to pass the career rushing yards leader, Tony Dorsett. With 1:13 left in the first quater of play, Williams burst with a 60 yard run, following behing blocker Leonard Davis and eluded three tackled for a touchdown. At the end of the game Williams had accumulated 259 rushing yards, with a career high of 44 carries. The Longhorns also secured the victory with a 26 to 24 win. This play was known as Williams "Heisman Moment" and helped push the Longhorns into the Cotton Bowl. Although his record has since been broken, his run still stands in the history of college football.

The 1965 Orange Bowl was a dream match up between two collegiate powerhouses, Texas and Alabama. Featuring some of the most legendary coaches in all of college football Darrell K Royal and Bear Bryant. The Tide lead by legendary quaterback Joe Namath and the Longhorns anchored by linebacker Tommy Nobis. Ina a moment inches from the goal line, Bear Bryant for the Crimson Tide called for Namath dive. Nobis with a burst through the line was able to prevent the score. Nobis and Texas defense was able to seal the 21 to 17 victory.
