This knitted gnome was based on the dwarf design of Jean Greenhowe in Knitted Toys. I conceived of him as the Norse deity Loki, who is associated with fire.
Loki is the Norse trickster deity and exhibits an androgenous quality. (Once in the form of a mare he gave birth to eight-legged horse, Sleipnir.)
