This circular lace shawl was knit using the directions in Elizabeth Zimmerman's Knitting Around which along with all her other books is highly recommended. Essentially you simply double the number of stitches in the circumference of the shawl every time the radius doubles as you knit out from the center. You then have the luxury of selecting what ever lace pattern you wan to use. I used lace patterns from Barbara Walker's A Treasury of Knitting Patterns (3 vols). The outer rim of the shawl is a border knit sidewise. I selected a pattern for this from the excellent book, Orrenburg Lace.
