Minesweeper is a videogame in which you use logic to clear mines that are scattered upon a grid but are hidden under clickable tiles. Clicking on a tile which contain a mine will cause you to lose. Clearing the entire board is a win. The main goal of the game is to clear all the mines as fast as possible with the faster time directly correlating to the best runs.
The exact origin of Minesweeper is unclear with some saying the game originated in 1990, while others claim its existence in the 1980's. The creater of Minesweeper, Curt Johnson, claims the design of the game was inspired by another game but he does not rememebr which.
It is recommended that if you are new to Minesweeper that you start with Classic and that you visit the "Where to play page and finding where to play your desired variant so you may follow along in a real game, while reading the tutorial.
