Department of Family Medicine Mission
To communicate and exemplify the ideals and values of Family Medicine by integrating excellence in education, patient care, community service, and research with the realities of the practice of family medicine.
The University of Cincinnati, Department of Family Medicine, was founded in 1974, twenty five years after the first national meeting of the American Academy of General Practice (the forerunner to the American Academy of Family Physicians) was held in Cincinnati.
This illustrious heritage continues today in a department nationally recognized for its strong clinical teaching program in Family Medicine and its programs in geriatrics, international health and behavioral medicine.
