IP Address v MAC

IP Address

The IP (Internet Protocol) address is different devices communicate on the internet. They identify a device that gets on the global internet. The IP address is assigned to the network device by software configurations. IPv6 is the latest version of Internet Protocol replacing IPv4.

MAC Address

The MAC (Media Access Control) Address is a piece of hardware in a device that controls how device data is being pushed onto a network. MAC addresses are used to identify devices on the local network. Each device has there own unique MAC address, none are the same. They are unique to the network card that is already installed on the device by the manufacturer.
