Bobby Mackey's Music World

History

In September of 1978, country music singer Bobby Mackey opened Bobby Mackey’s Music World. On the same site where he opened this, there was a slaughterhouse that had satanic cult activity around it. One of the ghosts that are said to reside there is named Headless Pearl Bryan. Bryan was said to have been murdered in 1896 at the age of 22. She was pregnant and her boyfriend, Scott Jackson, convinced her to move to Cincinnati, where he was going to college for dental surgery, so they could arrange an abortion. Jackson and his roommate, Alonzo Walling, attempted to the abortion themselves but ended up decapitating Pearl Bryan. The head was never discovered but many speculate that Jackson had ties to the cult and may have used the head in a ritual in the basement of the slaughterhouse.

The slaughterhouse was demolished in the early 20th century and the lot sat empty until the 1920s when a casino was built there. In 1933, “Buck” Brady bought the building and named it the “Primrose.” After over a decade of successful business, the casino caught the attention of a group of mobsters. When the mobsters attempted to buy the building Brady declined. A fight broke out. Brady was charged with an attempt at murder and left the business in 1946.

In the 1950s the building reopened as a nightclub called the “Latin Quarter.” Johanna was a dance hall girl, girls who were hired to entertain men for the night. Johanna was also the nightclub owner’s daughter. She fell in love with Bobby Mackey, who at the time used to sing there. Johanna got pregnant and intended to run away with Mackey, but her father forbade the romance. Johanna’s dad used his criminal connections to try and get Mackey killed, but when Johanna found out about this she poisoned her father and killed herself in the basement. In 1978 a series of fatal shootings close to the nightclub forced it to shut its doors. Later in 1978, Bobby Mackey purchased the nightclub and turned it into a music hall and tavern.
