This penguin was knitted from directions found in Kath Dalmeny's World of Knitted Toys published by David and Charles (ISBN 0 7153 0680 4).I had a lot of trouble with this one and finally custom knit the white piece to fit to the completed black piece. (I'm not sure if this was my fault or an error in the pattern, but I'm inclined to take the blame...) I used a double knitting technique on the six toe segments that make up the feet to save sewing time.
The open source operating system known as Linux has a copyrighted animal totem (trademark in modern parlance?) so Tux was named after him.
