Kākurabu was merely a dream that had formed immediately after the chem final in Spring Semester 2022. I had just “passed” the exam and got bored, so I started designing a flyer (shown below) for a car meet on Canva. The flyer then turned into an invitation for a car club and a Discord server being set up in less than five minutes which in turn fueled an ambition to create the greatest club on campus. The name means “car club” in Japanese, pretty much as simple as a club name can get. Why Japanese? Personally, no clue, first thing that popped in my head but also because a lot of Japanese cars are cool. (This shouldn’t deter someone without a Japanese vehicle from joining, all are welcome!) Sadly, the dream died quick because I couldn’t get the Wepa© printers to print in color and I didn’t have the energy to give everyone who passes by a faulty Discord server invite code. Fast forward a few months and a web development class gave me an excuse to start it up again and develop this site, giving me newfound hope. That’s enough backstory, now to the root cause of creating this club other than boredom.
There was a huge problem on campus. There was a lack of car enthusiasts everywhere and if there are some, it would be near impossible to get in touch with them as you wouldn’t have known them. Look no further as the purpose of this site and its respective Discord server was to bring the car enthusiasts of all the UC campuses together and grow as a community. There usually aren’t any car meets so that can finally be setup amongst members, and everyone can just get to know each other and their cars along with growing their network in terms of future careers. You never know who amongst us may be a huge car enthusiast, it may just be the next guy who interviews you or even a future professional colleague. You need to expand your network of people to succeed, why not through here? Which is why we will even accept members who don’t own cars or don’t even know that much about them and just want to be a part of something big, hopefully if it gets big enough at the time of writing this.
