Unix History

• AT&T in the 1960's.
• Ken Thompson, Brian Kenighan, Dennis Ritchie
• Ritchie also gets credit for writing C, which is integral to Unix.
• From C spawned C++, from which spawned Java and Perl, from which spawned JavaScript.
• AT&T couldn't sell Unix, so it gave it to universities.  Its popularity quickly grew.
