A little about Java
-
Java is popular for good reason. It fulfilled many dreams of programmers
pre-Java:
-
A truly universal language: write once, run anywhere.
-
Use Java on many platforms: Windows, Mac OS, Linux, Unix, Palm OS, and
many more!
-
Use Java on an equally large variety of hardware. From an embedded
chip to a mainframe!
-
A (somewhat) vendor-independent software. As Java evolves, it becomes
more of a protocol.
-
Java has many, many capabilities.
-
Network connectivity
-
Database connectivity
-
Multithreading
-
Security
-
And many more. Too many to cover in three months!
Over the years...
