About the Tutor
I am passionate about helping students learn and have been tutoring all levels of secondary and post-secondary students for eight years. Having a degree in chemical engineering, I tutor primarily math and science. I taught bioengineering for two years at the University of Dayton. I have also set up a hands-on science program for kindergarten through second grade students, coached a Lego robotics team for three years, and helped lead a Cub Scout den. Before starting tutoring, I taught GED classes for five years at Butler Tech and then Hamilton City Schools.
I completed an intensive teaching course at Ohio State University and have experience tutoring students with learning disabilities like ADHD. I strive to identify the issues the students may be having and create different ways to present the material and solutions. When possible, I communicate with the teacher so that my tutoring is consistent with the teacher’s approach.
