James T. Kirk

James T. Kirk
James T. Kirk is the leading character in Star Trek and is played by William Shatner. Kirk is a Starfleet captain, originally from Iowa, who commands the starship USS Enterprise. He was the youngest Starfleet member to become a captain and is portrayed throughout the seasons as being loyal to the safety of his ship and crew above all else.

Spock

Mr. Spock
Mr. Spock, who’s first name is not pronounceable by humans, was played by the late Leonard Nimoy. Spock is second in command of the starship USS Enterprise and the head science officer onboard. He is most known for being half Vulcan, an alien race devoid of emotion, and half human. Throughout the series, Spock is portrayed as intelligent, logical, and a problem solver with a fierce loyalty to his commanding officer and his job, despite his internal biological conflict between his human and Vulcan sides.

Leonard "Bones" McCoy

Leonard McCoy
Leonard "Bones" McCoy is the USS Enterprise’s chief medical officer, played by actor DeForest Kelley. Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, McCoy is a highly educated and efficient, but sometimes holistic, doctor most known for frequently using the phrase “I’m a doctor, not a (some episode-relevant descriptor)” to his leading officer, Captain Kirk. McCoy is sometimes portrayed as argumentative when he has doubts about the morality or safety of a situation. He is also known to be suspicious of 21st century technology and careful about when to approach an issue with tried-and-true human techniques rather than technological ones.
