Neslihan is a rising fourth-year student in the Clinical Psychology doctorate program at UC. She received her Master of Arts degree from Southern Connecticut State University in 2014. Her previous research focused on deception in romantic relationships.

Her research interests include couple relationships, with a focus on how couples manage conflict. Neslihan is currently working on a project about how young adults handle conflict in short-term, uncommitted relationships (e.g., “hooking up,” “talking,” “friends with benefits”). She is particularly interested in how young adults develop conflict management skills and make the transition to stable, committed relationships. She is also involved in delivering a newly developed smoking cessation treatment that incorporates relationship education to couples in our current research study.
