Eliza Weitbrecht received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Cincinnati in 2017. She is currently a postdoctoral fellow at the Palo Alto VA.

Her research interests are broadly focused on the romantic and sexual activity of emerging adults, and in particular, links between casual sexual behavior and emerging adults' mental health and well-being. For her master’s thesis and dissertation projects, Eliza designed and carried out a two-wave prospective study that investigated several aspects of “hook ups” among college students, or casual sexual encounters between uncommitted partners not in a relationship. She is currently working on her dissertation, which examines longitudinal associations between hooking up and depressive and anxiety symptoms, self-esteem, hazardous alcohol use, and general physical health.
