ABOUT THRO

New technology for on-line text exchange and videoconferencing creates unique opportunities for both individualized and group based problem solving exercises in cyberspace communication between students of different cultures. THRO seeks to improve ethical reasoning and cross cultural communication for undergraduate students in philosophy, history, political science, psychology, international relations, and women’s studies; professional classes in law, education and business; as well as high school social studies.

Development Since 1996 THRO has linked University of Cincinnati faculty development initiatives on technology, teaching, and globalization.

Personnel Professor of Political Science Howard Tolley founded the project, Education Professor Dan Wheeler is Associate Director, and Law Professor Bert Lockwood directs the Urban Morgan Institute for Human Rights.

Accessible Technology THRO e-Cases may be used with a web browser for asynchronous or synchronous exchange of text. Audio and video conferencing may require wide bandwidth Internet2 connections. Satellite and ISDN line transmission support videocasts.

Publications THRO cases are published online as an electronic journal after peer review at case writing workshops and professional meetings. Several book chapters and journal articles assess the project.
