Driving From Denver

From Denver Into The Mountains On I-70
From Denver, the capital city of Colorado, take I-70 west towards Grand Junction. From here, a good idea is to take the exit to Lookout Mountain, right after you enter the mountains and pass Morrison. You will drive to the top of Lookout Mountain and can visit the legendary Buffalo Bill's grave site and visit a small museum and gift shop. The view from the top of Lookout Mountain is spectacular as well, as you can see many surrounding cities, such as Denver and Golden. Once you are done here, you can continue on I-70 for as far as you like, with amazing new scenery around every corner. If you get lucky, you may even see some bighorn sheep on the mountainside next to the road in Georgetown, where they like to hang out a lot. Just be careful if you are driving this route during ski season, as many of the major resorts are along this highway, so traffic can become very heavy during certain hours.
