A collection of Stories

Photograph of Crosley Tower, with a heart drawn over it

On Friday, I decided to visit the infamous Crosley Tower. Corsley Tower is an iconic structure, able to be seen from almost any area on campus. Despite the reports of a crumbling exterior, sinking foundation, and leaking ceilings, it is prided for being the second largest single-pour concrete structure, topped only by the Hoover Dam. I was surprised to find that I could easily enter this building, and even more surprised to find that students actually attend class in this building (is this a liability?). Upon entering, I was greeted by a surprisingly homey seating area. I then decided to look for the bathroom and found that it was located in the stairwell. This stairwell was particularly uninviting, with stairs leading down to an eerily lit basement area. The bathroom was also not the most comforting, but it did have a pleasant smell. Upon exiting the bathroom, I was greeted by a distant rumbling. Something was not right. I decided then that it was time to take my leave.

A sketch of the described tattoo

Another story I have is about a silly dream I had. In this dream, I had gotten my first tattoo. But my tattoo was quite peculiar! It depicted a sparrow in mid-flight, alongside a tube of toothpaste. In this dream, I was convinced that “Collageen” was a toothpaste brand, so this tube was a Collageen brand toothpaste tube. Additionally, across this illustration was a banner that read “Wild and Free.” The illustration itself was quite strong but I remember being quite upset because I thought it looked like a Collageen advertisement. Worse, I felt extremely insecure because everyone kept complimenting my tattoo, but because I thought it looked like an advertisement, I felt like they were all lying to me. What if they were lying to me all along? We will never know.

A crude illustration of a mud pool shapped like glasses. There are 3 stick figures in the foreground, and one of them is saying "The mudpools! "

In another dream I had, I was with my friends from high school, and we all went on a UC thrifting club field trip. I got scared that they were going to take us to South America for some reason because I had classes, but they told me not to worry. Anyway, after that, my friends and I started going back to Calhoun and my friends decided to START without me. My friend Megan was jogging up ahead and suddenly my friend Andrew was on a bike. I’m a tiny bit upset, and I start walking and somehow catch up to Andrew, who is upset because I caught up to him only by walking. He asks how I caught up to him, and I tell him I don’t know. Then suddenly, he isn’t on a bike anymore and we start racing back to the Calhoun Hall dorms, which for some reason are no longer in the city of Cincinnati Ohio but in a grassy clearing with foggy hills/mountains surrounding it. I stopped to take a picture of the mountain fog for my parents. There were big parking lots and between them, there were stretches of grass. We approach one of these and there are large cut-out shapes in the grass with darker soil/dirt in the middle. I was intrigued and put my foot into a goggle-shaped one and then took it out after realizing it was soft like mud. Megan says something like “Don’t go into the mud pools,” and Andrew replies with “Oh the mud pools” like it was an SCP or something. I ask why/what’s the mud pools and Andrew doesn’t reply while Megan just somberly smiles and repeats “Don’t go into the mud pools.” I think I started to walk back to the dorms, and I talked to someone again and it might have been Megan, but she looked a little different. I asked her what the mud pools were and she simply says “Don’t go into them.” I ask her why, and I think I asked a couple of times, but she just shakes her head and somberly smiles, “Don’t go into the mud pools.” I turn around and there’s a rainbow coming from the mountains going into the mud pools, turning them into something similar to the hot springs from Yellowstone? Suddenly, there were a bunch of people coming back from their own respective field trips, and upon noticing the hot springs they started eagerly rushing towards them and splashing around in them. As I turn back to “Megan” I’m filled with an impending sense of doom, and she just had one of those unnerving smiles on her face and then my alarm went off.
