Exercise #06

Purpose

Discussion

We've come to the point in the course that you should be ready to make a very presentable map on your own.  In this exercise you'll be working with two very large elevation datasets and the King Map to make a geologic and shaded relief map of the state you worked with in the first exercise.

Deliverable

Right-click here to download very small scale DLG data for your state(s) (to be superimposed on your topographic and geologic map(s).  Clip the Globe and King maps with your state(s) outline (from the ESRI STATES map on C: in your computer).  Use the DLG data with the topographic and geologic data to make a shaded relief map and a geologic map of your state.  Both maps should include a legend (with only those units visible in your state), title, projection, data source, date, scale, and your name.  Make an efficient and attractive layout.
