Ground Water Exercise

The following exercise will conclude our ground water project at Reeve's play field. Please follow the procedure below and hand in the completed project during class this Thursday (before we leave for LCI).

Procedure:

1. Download the pieziometric maps for both aquifers:

Shallow aquifer
Deep aquifer

Remember that head is in feet and UTM is in meters.

2. Each of you has been given a distinct symbol and location on the map.

3. Locate your symbol and calculate the flow vector assuming a conductivity of 3,000 m/day and porosity of 23%.

4. Starting at your symbol draw an arrow shoring the direction and distance water will flow in a week.

2. Contrast the flow in the upper and lower aquifers
