User overview
Kim and Ben both struggle to make tea for themselves in different ways.
Kim has a busy schedule before work, and often forgets her over-steeped tea on the counter. Ben is currently learning to cope with the loss of fine motor skills due to arthritis. He is worried about pouring hot water and has purchased adaptive mugs.
Arduino prototype
I created a functional Arduino prototype and used it to steep my tea while studying abroad in South Korea.

Aesthetic themes
Kim and Ben's aesthetic tastes fall on a spectrum from formal/mechanical to simple/artistic.
The loose "thinky" sketches below helped me rapidly seek forms that would appeal to both users.
