FUTURE EVENTS

September Trip Planned

Gifu, Japan will unveil its state-of-the art international convention facility in early September. Gifu has invited representatives from each of its five sister cities to participate in the opening celebrations.

Cincinnati has enjoyed an active relationship with Gifu for seven years, and will be represented by a 24 member delegation led by Vice Mayor Tyrone Yates. A dance ensemble and singer from the College Conservatory of Music of the University of Cincinnati will perform in an international festival.

Previous agreements will be reviewed, including the agreement between Northern Kentucky University and Gifu University. Additionally, future goals and exchanges will be planned to encourage economic trade between the two cities. The same delegation, led by Vice Mayor Tyrone Yates, will also travel to Taipei- Hsien, Taiwan this September. This is the first official trip to our newest sister city. The delegation will reciprocate last year's official Taiwanese visit led by Magistrate Dr. Ching You, who formalized our seventh relationship, here in Cincinnati with Mayor Qualls.

Accompanying the Vice Mayor will be SCA President, Sheila McKenna; Committee Chairperson Serena Tsuang; August Pust, from the Ohio Governor's Office; Dr. C.T. Lee, and the eighteen member dance troupe from UC-CCM. The members of the delegation will establish business and cultural contacts for Cincinnati and create plans for future exchanges.
