The Minokamo Yamazaki Mazak Plant
The plant specializes in the
building of
machine tool robots and is the most advanced and renowned of all the
Mazak plants in Japan.
The key to the success of the Mazak
machines is their flexibility due to the CNC (Computer Network Control).
The systems are built into each machine and they allow for programming
functions which can be carried out automatically.
The three goals of the Mazak
corporation are high quality, effectiveness, and consistency.
The corporation also employs a Total
Quality Control (TQC) system. The purpose of this system is illustrated
by the following quote from the Mazak pamphlet:
for every employee to realize that everyone in every
department has an impact on product quality, and to continuously
personally develop both pragmatically and subjectively in order to
improve the quality of each job performed.
Gifu industries have two goals
promoted
by the government: high-tech and high-touch (service, health, culture)
industries. Mazak is a successful balance of these two goals.

A Quote From Vice-Governor Kajiwara:
We have developed a unique and specialized image for industry,
especially our flourishing traditional handicraft industry and its many
off-shoot industries. Our new, modern industries also have made a name
for themselves for being unique.
Gifu Prefecture is unusual in that we have a tradition both old
and new which is special, different from anywhere else. Cormorant
fishing, the charms of Takayama, the hot springs in Gero--unique and
interesting places which can only be found here.
