Standing’s Day Gecko
Phelsuma standingi
Geckos have special toe pads consisting of many microscopic hooks that
can adhere to nearly any surface, even smooth rocks and glass. These
fantastic feet allow them the ability to forage in places that few other
animals can reach. Standing’s day gecko, in particular, depends on its
climbing skills as it lives high in the trees.
The gecko’s color changes according to temperature – dark colors in cool
temperature to absorb light and heat and light colors in high
temperatures to reflect light and heat.
