The Quick GLUE Server
-
We can quickly develop a web service with GLUE.
-
GLUE can either be integrated with a web server, such as apache, or it
can run standalone.
-
Making a small web service with glue is quite simple...
-
Just like RMI, we have to create an interface that will define what we
want our service to do.
-
Then we can implement that interface with a class and provide the logic
for our service.
-
We need to add a couple of lines to tell GLUE what to do, and then GLUE
performs a great deal of overhead work on our behalf.
-
We can create a client for our web service the same way we create any web
service client.
-
When we write our service, we define a WSDL url.
-
We can use the wsdl2java tool to create our interface and helper on the
client side. Next we can call the bind method on the helper to get
our stub, and magic, we have our web service client.
-
The GLUE tutorial provides an excellent simple example. Let's take
a look at that.
