More About Files
How else could you use this?
-
Pre-populate a file for an on-line store, then read it back. For
example, fill a file like this with book information. Display a list
of books on one page, when the user clicks a link for a specific book,
it will display detailed information in another page. This information
is pulled from a data file like this.
-
Keep user account information in a file.
-
Keep shipping details in a file.
-
Keep a page count in a file: simply store a single number in a file.
Read that number, add one, and write back. Use write > , not append
>> , so that only one number increments. If not, you will have a
file full of numbers!
-
Don't worry about getting too complex!
-
Complex data manipulation is made for databases.
-
As long as you read from or write to a file, you have satisfied
one of the requirements for the final. You don't have to read and
write, but you might find a good use to do so.
-
Reading from an inventory file, for example.
-
Generating an HTML page, similar to the registration page of this class.
-
Keeping count of visitors.
-
Generating an e-mail also counts.
