Prof. Margaret M. Hanson

Seeking the stars above, Dr. Margaret M. Hanson is dedicated as a Scientist, Educator, Leader, Innovator, Role Model and Mentor. Through Margaret's participation with AAUW -the American Association of University Women, Cincinnati Branch-which promotes education, self development, and equality for all women and girls-many have benefited by her expertise. She received the Edith C. Alexander Award for Distinguished Teaching at the University of Cincinnati. Margaret Hanson's most noted research is the use of high resolution, near infrared Spectroscopy to study stars and star clusters of high mass, which Margaret developed and quantified since 1994. She is well published and an International speaker. Margaret serves the Cincinnati Museum Center's Planetarium Project, Cincinnati Parks human sundial design innovation, Clark Montessori High School Astronomy curriculum and the AAUW Committee-Math/Science/Technology for Girls. She is personally recruiting and coaching activity presenters and organizing day long university visits for 6th grade girls (and their moms) for tours and meetings with other women scientists. Margaret Hanson is a Star on Earth.
