Still more evidence existed in support of a super-continent.
When the continents were lined up as suspected, based on
fossil and rock evidence, geologists found the tips of S. America, Southern Africa,
India and Australia to align with Antarctica.

3) ICE SHEETS The presence of ice sheets on land never made sense until
geologists realized it was ice moving from Antarctica onto these continents,

All well and fine, but Geologists needed to know: Was there any evidence that continents actually MOVE? The evidence would be found deep in the Ocean floor. |

| 4) MAGNETIC FIELDS When magma rises, the iron inside lines up with the current magnetic field. Once it hardens, the iron is locked into that alignment. The Ocean showed a mirrored record of a changing magnetic field on Earth, meaning the ocean crust was splitting and expanding, still moving the continents apart. |
