Recent Evidences in Favor of an Open Universe
Recall, the importance of Type I Supernova for obtaining
distances? Type I Supernova are excellent standard candles,
and can be used to determine the distance to galaxies Billions
of light years away. Well, in the last couple years, astronomers
have REALLY pushed using the Type I SN, and a picture of the
shape of our universe is beginning to unfold:
As we look back, the Type I SN are brighter than their Doppler shift
would predict for a FLAT UNIVERSE. Why? The Universe is
moving apart FASTER NOW than it was then. That is to say: the
UNIVERSE is SPEEDING UP.
This was totally UNEXPECTED from cosmologists!!
