Got DNA? How to find it in anything
Using items commonly found in the kitchen or bathroom, such as salt, baking
soda, and rubbing alcohol, we will learn how to extract DNA in a simple
procedure from different types of plant and animal tissue. Students will participate in a hands-on
experiment to isolate DNA from tomato, onion, banana, and poultry liver. In this fun and exciting project,
students will learn about the function of DNA and what it actually looks like
to the naked eye. This activity is
designed to give students a stronger understanding of the importance of DNA
through a visual experience.
