Goals:	             This course is designed to give students an 
                      understanding of microwave and millimeter wave components
                      including resonators, filters, slow-wave guiding structures 
                      and two and three terminal active devices and circuits.

Topics:	1. Resonators: waveguide, coaxial, microstrip, stripline, coplanar waveguide,
               dielectric and Fabry-Perot resonators.

 	 2. Filters: Insertion loss method, filter prototype, low pass, high pass and
               band-pass filters. Maximally flat, Chebyshev filters, 
               Filter design by Image parameter method.
	
  	3. Power Dividers, Directional Couplers and Hybrids: Wilkinson, T-junction and
               waveguide directional couplers, Lange coupler
	
  	4. Active Microwave Circuits: Noise in microwave circuits, Detectors and Mixers,
               Transistor amplifier design, oscillator design using two and three
               terminal devices, PiN diode control circuits

  	5. Theory and design of ferrimagnetic components: Plane wave propagation in a
               ferrite, ferrite isolator, ferrite circulators, ferrite phase
               shifters.
