The input statements of Chapter 1 can be downloaded from the notebook accessed by clicking here.
It is helpful to evaluate the MATHEMATICA Input statements
as you read in the text what they do.
Week of January 12 – January 16 (Second Week)
Solving the various problems assigned in the download prepared for Chapter 1.
Each of the following Labs will begin with a short quiz on the most basic techniques.
About 10 minutes should be sufficient and the questions will be similar to the previously assigned problems. Then, the remainder of these labs will be devoted to new topics in our textbook. As the course progresses, there will be new notebooks to download for evaluation as the corresponding topics are covered in the textbook. The corresponding MATHEMATICA notebooks will be downloadable from hyperlinks to be created below.

No homework will be collected. Grades will be based solely on the short quizzes given at the beginning of each class from the third week onward. The nature of previous examinations given may be surmised by clicking on the hyperlinks at the lower portion of this web page (or the web page obtained by clicking here). Of course, your M-number can be used as a part of your quiz problem. (Social Security Numbers were for a different era.) That way, each student will have an individualized correct answer when writing down on the examination paper the output that MATHEMATICA yields.

Week of March 2---March 6 (Ninth Week)
Input statements (written in InputForm rather than StandardForm) can be downloaded by clicking here. They may be evaluated one-by-one as you read the corresponding explanations in Chapter 7.

Week of March 9---March 13 (Tenth Week)
After the quiz of this class period, there will be no final examination.
The MATHEMATICA notebooks that may be accessed by clicking here were prepared in 2003 for the second edition (2001) of our textbook. They were written and evaluated correctly on my personal computer that has Version 3.0 of MATHEMATICA. Most of the Input statements in those notebooks have, thus far, continued to be evaluated as intended by more recent versions of Mathematica. The ones that do not evaluate as desired seem to be mostly related to simplifications of graphical considerations and to integration where Assuming plays a greater role.
