A Quick Review
-
Perl is a server-side scripting language.
-
Each Perl script must start with the shebang line, and must have the content-type
line if it is going to produce HTML.
-
We can use print to write HTML.
-
Perl has three types of variables:
-
scalar: starts with $
-
array: starts with @
-
hashes or associative arrays: start with %
-
We can get data entered to a form and parse it ourselves, but the CGI.pm
and cgi-lib libraries make life much easier.
-
Now that we understand the basics of Perl, we'll look a little deeper into
the language.
