About Me
My name is Matthew Kuckuck and I am a senior in Information Technology through CECH. I have taken classes on java, javascript, jQuery, T-SQL, html and other technologies. I did not have a lot of experience with html and css. During my coops, I mostly worked with backend technologies and I never realized the power of css. I recently took some time and watched lynda.com videos provided through UC to help give me a better foundation.
Resources for this class
Some videos I would recommend watching when you have some free time:
- CSS Fundamentals
This is for individuals who do not have any experience with css - CSS: Core Concepts
Chapter 2 has really good explanation of css selectors - CSS: Page Layouts
I really recommend these videos because they discuss positioning. Positioning has some really odd concepts when dealing with floats. - Creating a Responsive Web Design
These videos are a little more advanced and most wordpress themes have this feature built in. I am recommending these videos because we did not cover it in my html class. - CSS: Frameworks and Grids
Advanced design concepts but the author gives a lot of good resources for helping with these types of design concepts.
This is not all of the videos that they offer for css and I am sure there are more good ones out there. Also they have wordpress videos which I have not watched yet: They also have good javascript and jQuery videos. All in all, lynda.com is a really good resource and its free for UC students!
Another good website for the basics of css and html: w3schools.com
I am really excited to learn about wordpress and am looking forward to this class.
