Occupational Medicine Training Course

for Allied Occupational Health Professionals

(Formerly the Mini Residency in Occupational Medicine)

The University of Cincinnati College of Medicine is proud to sponsor the Occupational Medicine Training Course (formerly the Mini-Residency in Occupational Medicine). This course is targeted to physicians and allied health professionals.

The Training Course is an intensive training program consisting of one week sessions.  The next one-week training program sessions are:  October 23-27, 2000, March 19-23, 2001, June 25-29, 2001, September 10-14, 2001, and December 10-14, 2001. Although many health professionals will find it desirable to complete the course within one year, the individual one-week sessions may be taken in any order and in different academic years.

There will be lectures and demonstrations from 8:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. daily and on one evening each week. The curriculum will include clinical and administrative occupational medicine, epidemiology, environmental and industrial hygiene technology, toxicology, disability management, selection of office audiometric and pulmonary function equipment, medical surveillance, disability and impairment examinations, examinations for chronic back, neck, shoulder, knee, ankle, and foot pain, law, wellness, employee assistance programs, biological and medical monitoring, the ADA, government regulations, and ethics. A detailed syllabus will be provided.

The program is sponsored by the University of Cincinnati Office of Continuing Medical Education. The University of Cincinnati College of Medicine designates this continuing medical education activity for 115 hours in Category I credit of the Physician's Recognition Award of the American Medical Association. The University of Cincinnati College of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to sponsor continuing medical education for physicians.

The total course also qualifies for 86.5 prescribed hours by the American Academy of Family Physicians, 123 Category 2-A hours by the American Osteopathic Association and 172 hours by the American Nursing Association.

The Training Course is open to all physicians, physicians assistants, adult nurse practitioners and occupational health nurses. The tuition for the October, 2000 course is $975.00 ($775.00 for PA's, ANP's, and OHN's).  Thereafter the one-week cost of tuition is $975.00 ($775.00 for PA's, ANP's, and OHN's). Fees do not include lodging or meals except those provided as part of the program.  Information on housing and other logistics will be sent to all registrants upon receipt of the registration form and deposit.
